Mount Binaiya (Binaya) was the tallest mountain in the Islands of Maluku with a height of 3.027 meter above sea level. It was located in Seram Island in the region of Manusela National Park that has an area of 1.890 km wide. The coordinates of Manusela National Park are E 1299’33” – 12946’14” and S 348’24” – 318’24”. It was a limestone area with a rich variation of endemic flora and fauna. There are at least 14 species of birds endemic from 117 species that lives in Seram Island, like Seram Cockatoo (Cacatua Moluccensis), King Parrot (Aisterus Amboinensis), Black Head Parrot (L. Domicella), etc. And also some unique plants like Binaiya Fern (Chinteya Binaya) that only found on the summit ridge area of Mount Binaiya. There’s quite a big chances to encounter this beautiful birds on the way trekking.
  • Day 1-2Jakarta-Ambon-Masohi-Saonulu

    Upon arrival at the airpot, our guide will pick you up and transfer to the hotel. Our guide will give a brief for the whole program and check the gears. Rest for a while. Then, take the midnight flight to Ambon. Arrive at Pattimura Airport early in the morning. Then continue by car to Tulehu port to catch the speedboat headed for Amahai Port at Masohi, Seram Island. First, we go to Masohi to get the climbing permit and lunch. Then, continue to Saonulu village by car. To get to Saonulu, we have to cross the Kawanua River. If it’s flooded, we will use boat from Tehoru to get to Saonulu. Stay overnight in the villager’s house.
  • Day 3Saonulu–Piliana (420m)-Yamitala Camp

    After breakfast, we will use a truck to Piliana Village. At Piliana, we will ask blessing from the Elders to climb Mt. Binaya. Then continue trekking. First, going to upper Yahe River (3 hours). Crossing Yahe River again and 15 minutes away is Camp Yamitala, crossing one more river. Stay overnight here.
  • Day 4Yamitala Camp–High Camp

    Trekking to High Camp will take 7-8 hours. We will pass Aimoto Camp (4-5 hours from Yamitala Camp). Lunch here, and continue to High Camp for 3-4 hours uphill. Stay overnight here.
  • Day 5High Camp–Nasapeha

    From High Camp, it’s all the way up until Manukupa peak (2,210m). The hike is quite steep. After that go down to Isilali Camp. And then another steep hike to Bintang Peak. This day is quite demanding, maybe the hardest parts of the climb where the hikes are steep and gain quite a lot elevation. It takes approximately 8 hours to Nasapeha. Stay overnight here.
  • Day 6Nasapeha–Waifuku

    Nasapeha to Waifuku takes approximately 3-4 hours. 15 minutes from Nasapeha is the summit ridge. We will not do long trekking today, so we can enjoy the view and explore more at the summit ridge. Besides, Waifuku is also the last camp before summit. Stay overnight at Waifuku which is located at summit ridge.
  • Day 7Waifuku-Summit-Nasapeha

    On the far west is the tallest Binaiya Peak, also called Siale Peak. The time needed to go there is 3 hours through the summit ridge. The ridge is narrow and quite dangerous, so we have to be careful here. After summit, we go back to Waifuku and continue go down until Nasapeha. Stay overnight at Nasapeha.
  • Day 8Nasapeha–Camp Aimoto

    Same way going down to Camp Aimoto, maybe about 6-7 hours walk.
  • Day 9Camp Aimoto–Piliana-Saonulu

    It’s about 5 hours long going down back to Piliana village. From Piliana, we can go back to Saonulu using pick-up truck. Stay overnight at Villager’s house.
  • Day 10Saonulu-Ora Beach

    Early in the morning, we will go to Ora Beach, which is located in Saleman Village. The place is so nice to relax after a long trekking. We can do swimming, snorkeling, or just strolling around. Stay overnight.
  • Day 11Ora Beach-Amahai Port-Ambon

    At noon, we will go back by car to Amahai Port. Use the speedboat back to Ambon. Stay overnight at Ambon.
  • Day 12Ambon–Jakarta

    Flight back to Jakarta. End of trip
